Perception
2004-12-28
I was once great at knowing,
Perceiving as if an eagle,
The ways of a person.
But that is lost now.
Not completely,
As if a black hole sucked it away,
But as if it got rusty from
Not being used often enough.
Not only were the eyes open,
But every piece of nature.
I could sense each presence
Around me in the air.
I knew thoughts of others,
Knew each and every whim.
The sweet air of peace and
Strength was always around me.
I grew taller, and wiser.
My mind was taken over with
The knowledge of men,
The burden of the academy.
I lost the gift of knowing
The soul of others.
Yet, there remained a memory
Of the time in which I could tell.
As I grew, I learned,
But there were times in which
The past would show through.
I could see the feelings of some
Through the windows of body,
And I knew - I had not lost all.
